Q. What can I do with ADSL that I cannot do with dial-up?


A.  With SLT ADSL Express service you can download e-mail, surf web pages, and transfer
     files much quicker.You can even listen to live music, or see real time video much faster
     than ever before. Since ADSL connection is always connected until you ideal for some time
     your E-mail will appear in your mailbox as it arrives.

Q. How does SLT ADSL Express service differ from Internet Leased Line (ILL)
     access as they both give me permanent access at fixed cost?


A.  SLT ADSL Express service is similar to an ILL in the respect that it gives permanent
     Internet access at a fixed cost without affecting your telephone line. However ILL is
     asymmetric dedicated service creating a permanent connection between your promises
     and the Internet through Sltnet. On the other hand ADSL is asymmetric and sharing the
     contended capacity with many other users.

Q. What is my connection speed to both local and international websites?

A.  SLT ADSL Express service provides a connection speed of up to 512kbps or 2 mbps
     depending on the speed based on your subscribe package. The performance also depends
     on other factors such as website located locally in internationally, number of users
     accessing the web site, web site Internet connected speed, etc.

Q. Why doesn't my ADSL modem speed reach 512 kbps when I am on SLT
     ADSL Home Express surfing internet?


A.  Access speed is just one of the many factors which affect the Internet throughput
     speed. Other factors that will affect the speed are:

  1. The surfing web server performance.
  2. The surfing web server load
  3. The speed of the link connecting the web server to the Internet
  4. Irregular Internet traffic all over the world
  5. Sltnet international Internet Backbone capacity and contention
  6. Quality of the ADSL line to your home
  7. Quality of the internal telephone wiring
  8. Distance between your home and the SLT Telephone Exchange.
  9. If your computer is infected by a spy-ware or virus.
