SETTING UP Eudora Light / Pro E-mail Programme


Please note that SLTNET email service normaly supports Eudora 5.1 or upwards.
If you are using a lower version please contact the helpdesk.

Eudora

Double click on your Eudora Light programme and select Option from the Tools Menu

1. Select "Tools"
2. Select "Options"
3. You will see the Category Column on the left. Highlight Getting started ( 1st Category)
and fill the following setting there:
4. Real Name : Type “Your Full Name”
5. Return Address : Type “Your Email Address”
6. Mail Server (Incoming) : Type “sltnet.lk”
7. Login Name : Type “Your email address”
8. SMTP Server (Outgoing) : Type “auth.slt.lk”
9. Click “Allow Authentication”
10. Click “Ok”

Eudora Pro

Double click on your Eudora Pro programme and select "Settings" from the "Special"
Menu.

You will see the Category Column on the left. Highlight Getting started ( 1st Category)
and check the following setting there:

Note:- For all the options, Pop Account is your E-mail address.

  1. Pop Account - This is your E-mail address and should be in Simples
    (E.g. - abcde@sltnet.lk)
  2. Real Name - It can be either your name or the name of your company
  3. Connection Method - Mark "Dial-up (shell account access)" Eudora pro Ver 3.0 or
    later version user Mark "Winsock (Network, PPP,SLIP)"
  4. Personal information - Real Name - Your name or the name of your company
    Return Address - Your E-Mail address in simples Dial-up User name - Only your
    User Name (not the full E-mail address, e.g.: abcde).
  5. Hosts - SMTP- smtp2.slt.lk should be there. The other entries are not necessary
  6. Checking Mail - Check for mail every... , Here should be 0 (Zero) From the other
    options only "Send On Check" is marked. Authentication Style - "Passwords" is
    selected.
  7. Sending mail - Return Address is your E-mail address and SMTP server is smtp2.slt.lk
    Except "Immediate Send", option others are marked.
  8. Attachments - Encoring Method - Mime is marked Attachment Directory - Here should be
    Eudora Light - "C:\Internet\Eudora\Attache"
    Eudora Pro - "C:\E-mail\Attaché"

Eudora automatically places file attachments that come with incoming mail to a specific
directory. To set the default Attachment Directory, click on "Attachment Directory" bar
and double click on C. Internet. Eudora or C:\e-mail and Attach Directory respectively.
Then click on "Use Directory" button. The path for the attachment files displayed on the
bar now is: "C:\Internet\Eudora\Attach" or C:\e-mail\attache

Dial-up

- (for Eudora Pro Version 2.1.2 or former version users) previous versions of Eudora(that    don’t have “allow authentication”cannot be used for sending emails through auth.slt.lk or    smtp1.slt.lk
- Dial-up User Name- It is the first part of your E-mail address (before @ sign)
- Phone number -One of the SLT access telephone numbers shown below
  Colombo-(011)2474747, 2383838
  Kurunegala

  you can type any one of these numbers.

  Remember: If you are dialing to Colombo server from outside Colombo, insert "01"
  in front
  e.g. 01474747
- Baud rate - 38400
- Com Port - Serial port number of your PC where modem is connected.
- "CRLF Processing" and "show Trace Window" option are marked. Let the other
   options remain.

Configuring Mail Delivery Option

1. Open Eudora Mail Client
2. Select “Tools”
3. Select “Options”
4. Select “Incoming Mail”
5. Uncheck “Leave a copy of messages on server” if it is already selected else leave it as it is.
6. Select “OK”
