Another fruitful seminar series of Web Spinners Unite was held couple of days ago in Uva
province for school children with the aim of educating them about the Internet and its
applications.

Web Spinners unite seminars has been formulated to make awareness on Internet and its
benefits and mainly targeted at the public society and also the school children. These were
some of the seminars SLT has been conducting over a period of last three years. We, SLT
noticed as a leading Internet provider in Sri Lanka, It’s an impressive step that has been
taken towards learning and making use of the Internet in rural areas such as Nuwaraeliya,
Hatton.

In the series, Web spinners unite has Done 03 Main seminars in 03 Educational zones including
NuwaraEliya, Hatton & Kothmale. Around 05 schools have been participated in each seminar
representing each educational zone. All 03 seminars were done with the attendance of over
250 students and around 40 numbers of teachers’ staff led by the principals. These seminars
were meant to aware both the teachers and students on Internet And Its applications such as
World Wide Web, Emails, E-learning, E-commerce etc.

The all 03 seminars were conducted by Mr.Vijitha Bandara – Asst.Manager / Internet Marketing
in SLT and the main coordinators of the seminar were Mr. Rohana Ellawala, Regional Telecom
Office Manager / Nuwaraeliya, Ms. Hameed, Manager / Teleshop - Nuwaraeliya &
Mr. Baminiwatta , Marketing Officer / Nuwaraeliya.
