Welcome to SLTNet and Thank You for choosing SLTNet as your Internet Service
Provider

PLEASE READ THIS POLICY THOROUGHLY BEFORE ACCESSING THE SERVICE AND IF YOU
DO AGREE TO THE TERMS YOU MAY PROCEED AND YOU WILL BE BOUND BY THE TERMS
SETFORTH BELOW AND SHALL CONSTITUTE YOUR AGREEMENT TO COMPLY WITH THE SLTNET
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY. BY ACTIVATING THE SERVICES YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU
HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD AND AGREE TO THIS ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY AS SETOUT
HEREUNDER. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE TERMS OR DO NOT WISH TO BE BOUND
BY THIS OR ANY MODIFICATIONS WHICH MAY BE MADE BY SLTNET FROM TIME TO TIME (AS
DESCRIBED HEREIN) OR IF THIS POLICY IS UNACCEPTABLE TO YOU, YOU MAY IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECT OR NOT USE THE SERVICE.

SLTNet does not control the information passing through the SLTNet system or Internet and
use of any information passing through SLTNet is at User's own risk. Neither SLTNet nor it's
contractors, it's affiliates or their respective employees should be hold liable for any loss,
damage or service interruptions which may results from using the service.

General

SLTNet's intention for publishing an Acceptable Use Policy is not to impose restrictions that
are contrary to SLTNet's established culture of openness, norms, trust and integrity. SLTNet
is committed to protecting the customers, Internet community and the company itself from
unlawful or damaging actions by individuals, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Users are generally expected to behave in a reasonable manner and to adhere to commonly
accepted practices of the Internet community. For the most part, simply exercising good
judgment and common sense while using the Service should enable Users to remain within the
purview of acceptable conduct as further described in these Policies. The categories listed
below are intended merely to serve as guidelines regarding appropriate and inappropriate
conduct; the list is by no means exhaustive and should not be interpreted as such.

What Users shouldn't do?

This list is not exclusive and if the User has any doubt he/she should seek the assistance of
SLTNet in order to clarify such issues.

  • User should not divulge his/her user name or should not act in such a way that may
    reveal such information to outsiders whom cannot be held responsible in the case of
    any breach of terms set forth in this policy.
  • User should not send unsolicited email (also known as ‘ SPAM ') to anyone residing on
    SLTNet servers or through SLTNet servers (also known as ‘relay') or when dialed in or
    connected to the SLTNet network.

The following types of email sent constitute as spam:

    • Forged From or/and To address/addresses other than From the actual sender
      or/and To the actual recipient.
    • Unsolicited bulk emails sent as advertisements, promotions etc
    • Mass e-mails (email bombs or flooding) carried out by automated programs or
      viruses, worms and Trojans.
    • Emails not requested by the recipient.
    • Message subject not related to the contents of the email body.
  • Spoofing
    Users shall not attempt to use a name or address (for examples an impersonated IP
    address) of someone else for the purpose of sending email or any other electronic
    communication with an intention of deception.
  • E-Mail Relay
    Any use of another party's electronic mail server to relay e-mail without express
    permission from such other party is prohibited.
  • To carry out or assist or attempt to carry out mail bombing or any other activity which
    overloads any mail box with huge e- mail(s) or a large number of e – mails.
  • Transmit or post on web sites any information or software which contains a Virus,
    Trojans, Worm or other harmful component.
  • Post, transmit, publish, reproduce or distribute information, software or other material
    obtained through the Service which is protected by copyright, patent or any other
    intellectual proprietary rights, without obtaining the prior approval of the copyright
    owner or right holder.
  • Transmit or post on web sites any information pertaining to SLTNet or any other network
    and the disclosure of it deemed threatening to the normal functioning of such networks.
  • Attempt to circumvent authentication or security of any host, network or account
    (hacking).
  • System abuse is strictly prohibited. Exploit the security of the network which includes
    but not limited to crack passwords or security encryption codes, access data not intended
    for the user (sniff network traffic) and scanning for live network resources on SLTNet or
    other networks is not entertained at any level and will results in immediate termination
    of Service and hold the User financially liable for any damage, and if applicable, bring
    legal action against the user.
  • User should not attempt to interfere or hinder the service to any other user, host or
    network (denial of service attacks). This includes, but is not limited to flooding of
    networks, deliberate attempts to overload a server or a service.
  • To infringe or facilitate infringement of any intellectual property right of any person
  • For any purpose which against public interest, public order or national harmony
  • In violation of any laws relating to unfair competition, anti – discrimination or false
    advertising
 

What Users should do?

  • Select a sensible user name as the login account where ever applicable
  • Use a strong password to the login account and revise passwords at least in every 3
    months period. It's the sole responsibility of the User to maintain a strong password as
    above. Refer How to set a strong Password before selecting a password
  • User should secure his/her computer resources so that only authorized users can gain
    access to such resources.
  • If the User notice any misuse of his/her account or security breach through his/her
    account, it's the User's sole responsibility to immediately inform SLTNet
  • Use up to date Virus Guard and Spam filter software in User's computer equipments.
  • User should respect other Internet Service Providers and their Services
  • User should dial 1243 to access SLTNet Customer Support if connecting through a SLT
    telephone connection and 011 2441123 otherwise.

  • If you become aware of any violation of these Policies by any person, including Users
    that have accessed the Service through your account, please notify us. We will notify
    you, our Customer, of complaints received by us regarding each incident of alleged
    violation of these Policies by your Users of the Service. You agree to promptly investigate
    all such complaints and take all necessary actions to remedy any actual violations of
    these Policies. You shall identify a representative for the purposes of receiving such
    communications. We reserve the right to install and use, or to have you install and use,
    any appropriate devices to prevent violations of these Policies, including devices designed
    to filter or terminate access to the Services provided by us.
 

What Users should know?

  • Unfiltered Service
    We cannot control the content that you will receive, that is we are providing you with
    unfiltered access to Internet and SLTNet has no obligation to monitor it either. However
    User agrees that SLTNet has the right to electronically monitor the service from time to
    time and to disclose such information to any law, regulation or other legal bodies as and
    when it's necessary to continue providing proper service or to protect its users.
  • Privacy of Data
    Data transferred through the SLTNet network or Internet in general is not confidential.
    SLTNet can not guarantee the privacy, protection or integrity of any such data.
  • Web Hosting
    SLTNet reserves the right to refuse the posting or publishing of information in part or in
    whole, in its sole discretion, which are unacceptable or in violation of this agreement.
  • Suspend Service
    SLTNet reserves the right to suspend any user account due to any reason attributable
    to any violation stipulated above or otherwise.
  • No System Backup
    SLTNet does not effect system backups on any User's E-mail account/s or any web
    contents which are hosted on SLTNet servers. SLTNet should not be held responsible
    for any lost of email attachments, any email message contents regardless of the
    reasoning for data loss or system causes.
  • Non-transferable
    SLTNet accounts are for use by the User only and hence not transferable.
  • Cooperate Investigations
    SLTNet will cooperate with appropriate law enforcement agencies and other parties
    involved in investigating claims of illegal or inappropriate activity. SLTNet reserves the
    right to disclose customer information to such external parties as law demands.
 
Disclaimer

SLTNet does not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error free. SLTNet will
provide every effort in good faith to ensure that its services are available as much as possible
with minimal service interruptions.

In no circumstance will SLTNet be liable for any claims resulting from the use or inability to
use SLTNet services - including, but not limited to, service interruptions, client errors, Internet
connectivity problems, miscommunications, unauthorized access to SLTNet servers, Internet
bandwidth congestion, power failures, vandalism, and natural disasters. SLTNet SHALL NOT BE
LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS OR BUSINESS
OPPORTUNITY, LOSS OF USE, ETC., EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

 

Any complaints regarding violation of the Acceptable Use Policy of SLTNet shall reach us via email
to sltnet . Please include all applicable information that may be useful for SLTNet for investigating
the complaints.

If you are experiencing live attacks from any of the SLTNet belong computer resources, please
call our 24 hour Network Operation Center on +94 11 2543086 to submit a complaint.

SLTNet may modify the contents of this agreement from time to time and the User's continued
use of SLTNet services after such modification deemed to be User's acceptance of such
modifications and will be bound by such modifications.

SLTNet advices its Users to review the policy from time to time, which is published at SLTNet
web site. For any clarifications of terms or clauses in this policy please forward it by email
addressed to abuse@sltnet.lk. If the User find something unacceptable the User must immediately
stop using the service and inform SLTNet.

BY CONTINUING TO USE SLTNET SERVICE, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND FULLY
UNDERSTOOD ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SETFORTH ABOVE AND I AGREE TO ABIDE
BY THOSE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
